Aztecs were feared Native Americans that had an empire that went throughout Mexico. The aztecs were based on four types of people and so was their fashion. The first type of people were the common people their clothing was composed of a loincloth and a cloak that they wore on their back that could be used to carry things. Women would wear skirts and a sleeveless blouse. The second type of people were the upper class they would wear about the same type of clothing but would have a lot more bright clothing and gold dust or threading on it. The third type type of people were the merchants, they would wear a lot more elaborate clothing to attract people to their booths. The last type of people were the military, the military would wear one of two types of costumes, the jaguar or the eagle. War heroes would wear more jewels and some even had a layer of gold. Aztecs fashion was a very important part of their economy, because you could buy a slave if you had enough material to buy them. For the aztecs fashion united people and seperated them much like these days. Aztecs used cotton or ayate(also called the Century Plant or American Aloe) as main materials to make their traditional clothing. Just like the mayans they would dye their clothing to make it very colourful. As I said the aztecs had 4 types of population and each of their fashion made them unique and special.
